During the visit the bilateral talks took place in the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces. The experiences and challenges resulting from and related to the participation of both armed forces in ISAF operation were discussed. General G±gor paid particular attention to the scope of challenges resulting from the ISAF mandate, and the need to deploy appropriately equipped forces. General Schneiderhan stressed the importance the German side attaches to the exchange of information and the harmonization of training of the Afghan security forces. The Chief of the General Staff and the Inspector General of Bundeswehr also discussed the issues related to transformation of the armed forces and further military cooperation between Germany and Poland, with particular attention paid to the joint participation in EU Battle Groups and activities of Multinational Corps North-East. The interlocutors discussed also perspectives of Polish participation in Eurocorps and NATO’s new Strategic Concept.
During his visit the Inspector General of Bundeswehr also visited the Minister of Defence, Mr Bogdan Klich, the Operational Command of Polish Armed Forces, and paid the tribute at the Grave of Unknown Soldier and the monument of Warsaw Uprising. In the Academy of National Defence general Schneiderhan offered a lecture on “Perspectives of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership – the role of NATO & EU within the Comprehensive Approach.”
