At the invitation of general Josip Lucic, on 2nd July chief of the Polish General Staff general Franciszek G±gor started a visit to Croatia.

General G±gor was welcomed by Croatian honourable company and then he met with his counterpart and Mrs. Mate Rabotega acting Minister of National Defence.

During the meeting the following issues were discussed: security on the Balkans, Croatian Armed Forces reform and cooperation between Polish and Croatian units in military operations. General G±gor assured that Poland will support Croatian Armed Forces in their aspirations to NATO. What is more General G±gor informed that Polish Armed Forces will share their experience concerning both membership in NATO and transformation.

Polish and Croatian generals agree that both armed forces use plenty of similar military weapon and equipment and that could contribute to developing more intensive technical-military cooperation. Active Croatian participation in Multinational Military Police Battalion, which is a part of  European Military Police Forces, could be a successful catalyst for these efforts. Poland is a frame country of this currently forming unit.

At present, Croatia and Albania are applying for membership in NATO.

Chief of Polish Staff also visited Special Forces Battalion in Delnice, where he was introduced to its structure and tasks.
