07 May. Bronisław Komorowski, acting President of the Republic of Poland and Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Armed Forces, Has appointed LTGEN Mieczysław CIENIUCH as a Chief of General Staff of Polish Armed Forces.

The funeral ceremonies of the Chief of General Staff of Polish Armed Forces, General Franciszek Gągor, who died tragically in airplane crash near Smolensk, will take place In Warsaw on 20 and 21 April.

Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), adm. James G. pays his visit to Poland STAVRIDIS on 13-15 December. It is the first visit of Adm. Stavridis Poland after his appointment as SACEUR.

On 2-3 July, at the invitation of the Swiss Chief of Defence LtGen. André Blattmann, the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces Gen. Franciszek Gągor visited Switzerland.

On 29 June 2009, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States Admiral Michael Mullen paid an official visit to Poland.

On 8 June 2009, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe General John CRADDOCK paid an official visit to Poland.

On May 26th, after a welcome ceremony at the headquarters of the General Staff in Warsaw, LtGen Ahmed Salah Gaida met with General Franciszek Gągor and took part in bilateral talks.

For the first time in the history of the V4 CHOD meetings, the chiefs of defence of the Baltic States have been invited to join the discussions. The Ukrainian Military Forces delegation has been also attending the meetings since 2007.

From 23rd to 25th April the Visegrad Group (V4) Chiefs of Defence meeting was held in Sopot (Poland).

On 5 -8th March, at the invitation of General Franciszek GĄGOR, Chief of the General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces General TSEVEGSUREN TOGOO paid his first visit to Poland.

Over 800 NATO soldiers- MSWD specialists from Poland, USA, Belgium, Bulgaria, Rumunia, Czech Republic, France and Italy accomplished a few days' exercise on Drawsko training ground.

At the invitation of the chief of the General Staff of the Ukraine Serhij Kyryczenko, on 27-29 th August chief of the Polish General Staff general Franciszek Gągor visited Ukraine.

At the invitation of general Josip Lucic, on 2nd July chief of the Polish General Staff general Franciszek Gągor started a visit to Croatia.

On 24th June, NATO Supreme Allied Commander Transformation and Commander, U.S. Joint Forces Command Gen. James Mattis began his visit to Poland.

The Military Representatives to NATO Military Committee visited Poland from 5th to 7th June as part of the annual away session.
